A map of the places your friends would take you to themselves. Every spot starts private, and you decide who each one is for.

Getting started

1. Sign in with Google. Adding a spot, making friends and joining a group all need an account.
2. Find a place. Type it into the search box at the top. Pick it from the suggestions and a pin drops on the map with what Google knows about it.
3. Check, then confirm. Make sure it is the right branch before you save — you can rename or recategorise it later, but the location is fixed.
4. Choose who sees it. New pins are Just you unless you say otherwise. You can change this whenever you like.
5. Add people. Friends by email; groups by sending someone the invite link. Both are under Social in the bar at the top.
6. Use the list. Tap a row to fly to it on the map, or the chevron on its right for notes, voting and everything you can change.

Adding a spot

Search for it in the box at the top. Pick it from the suggestions and a pin appears on the map with what Google knows about it — check it is the right place, then confirm.

Who can see it

Every pin starts as Just you. To change that later, open the spot in the list and tap the small grey label next to your name — the one that reads PRIVATE. You can move it to Friends only, or to any group you are in, as often as you like.

Groups

Start one under Social → Groups: you pick a password and get an invite link. Joining needs both — the link says which group, the password lets you in — so send them separately and a forwarded link on its own gives nothing away. Opening a link fills it in and asks for the password. Any member can pass the link on; whoever started the group can replace it with New link, which stops the old one working without removing anyone already in.

Friends

Add someone by email in the Friends tab. If they have not signed up yet the request waits for them, and turns into a friendship the first time they sign in.

Upvoting

Pressing the up arrow on someone's note tells your friends you recommend the place. They see that you recommend it — not the note you upvoted, and nothing else about whoever wrote it.

Sending a spot

Send to a friend passes one spot to one or more friends as a notification, with a short line you pick from a list.

Still stuck

Sign in and open Settings → About, then Contact whoever runs Forklist. That goes straight to them, with your name and email attached so they can reply.
